CA Cigar Number 8 for 2024

Cigar Aficionado selected the Prensado by Alec Bradley as it’s number 8 cigar for 2024. This one has been a winner for AB for quite some time, taking the number 1 slot as cigar of the year in 2011 and taking number 8 in 2023.

It has been quite a bit of time since I have encountered an Alec Bradley stick but I did have good experiences with them back several years ago when I was starting my cigar journey in earnest.

I smoked the Post Embargo back in mid-2023 in a robusto that I found to have a pleasantly full but mild flavor that I enjoyed. That particular line is no longer offered by Alec Bradley.

The winner was a torpedo which sported a 6 1/8-inch length with a 52-rind gauge. It has a Honduras wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and filler leaves from both Honduras and Nicaragua.

Since my notes are out of date and sketchy on this one, I don’t have much to offer. I do remember when my friend Paul Carroll owner of Heights Cigar Longue in Houston introduced me to the Alec Bradley line back well over 1o years ago, I was impressed and smoked several of their offerings. I will try to get out and smoke one for a more updated report to all of you soon.
